Compact, automatic pellet boiler
MOCEK BIOPAL PELLET BOILER WITH SIDE HOPPER
MOCEK BIOPAL® with a side hopper is a pellet boiler with an external BatoryPell® burner, a solution for those who want a larger pellet hopper capacity and less frequent refilling. The hopper is placed on the side of the boiler body, which means a lower overall height, which matters in boiler rooms with low ceilings, as well as convenient access to the hopper from the side at working height, with no need to reach up.
The heat exchanger is based on an upper-channel design with an exhaust fan, a proven thermal layout that delivers high thermal efficiency and simple seasonal maintenance. A large expansion chamber makes it easy to access through the front inspection door without removing the side panels.
The boiler meets Class 5 requirements under the PN-EN 303-5:2021 standard and the EcoDesign directive, with dust emissions below 20 mg/m³ and energy efficiency class A+. Its parameters have been verified by an independent certification body and confirmed by its listing on the ZUM list, a prerequisite for obtaining the higher subsidy under the Clean Air programme.
If your priority is a smaller floor footprint and you have enough ceiling height, consider the BIOPAL with a top hopper. If greater autonomy and loading pellets from the side matter more to you, the side hopper is the right choice.

MODERN DESIGN
MOCEK BIOPAL® with a side hopper has a rectangular body with an IRYD 620 Pellet control panel mounted centrally on the front of the boiler. The BatoryPell® burner is mounted externally on the side of the body and can be reached directly without removing the casing; you only need to undo a few screws. The inspection door, ash pan and igniter are accessible from the front, so all servicing is done from one side, with no need to get behind the boiler. The whole unit is powder-coated, and the hopper casing is in the same colour as the boiler body.

Maximum compactness for your boiler room
The side-hopper model is lower than the top-hopper model — the hopper next to the boiler body doesn't add to the overall height of the unit. It's the right solution for boiler rooms with low ceilings or height restrictions above the installation site.
The side hopper holds more pellets than the top hopper, which means longer boiler operation between refills. Pellets are loaded from the side at a comfortable working height — no need to reach up. A screw feeder moves the pellets horizontally from the side hopper straight into the BatoryPell® burner.

BatoryPell®
pellet burner
The BatoryPell® burner is an external automatic burner with a self-cleaning tube chamber, mounted on the side of the boiler. The tube chamber produces little clinker and copes well with pellets that have a higher ash content — with no risk of clogging. The automatic igniter starts the boiler without manual lighting.
The burner can be fully removed for cleaning or servicing without touching any other boiler components — a few bolts, a few minutes. Unlike the OXYPELL series, the BatoryPell® burner is not certified for alternative fuels — it runs on wood pellets.

BIOPAL ON THE ZUM LIST
The MOCEK BIOPAL® with a side hopper is on the ZUM list of the NFOŚiGW (National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management) — its emission parameters have been verified by an independent certification body, not merely declared by the manufacturer. Dust emissions below 20 mg/m³ and Class 5 under PN-EN 303-5:2021 are a prerequisite for obtaining the higher level of funding under the Clean Air program.

Pellet boiler
construction
The MOCEK BIOPAL® body with a side hopper is built around a top-channel heat exchanger with an exhaust fan at the top of the casing and insulation on all sides. The BatoryPell® burner, mounted externally on the side, feeds the flame into the combustion chamber through an opening in the side wall of the body, so the combustion zone is physically separated from the pellet hopper.
The large expansion chamber gives full access to the interior through the front door, with no need to remove the side panels. The screw feeder carries pellets horizontally from the side hopper straight to the burner. All maintenance tasks, including cleaning the heat exchanger, emptying the ash pan and checking the burner, can be done from the front or the side, with no need to reach behind the boiler.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ – BIOPAL pellet boiler with side hopper
What is the difference between a side hopper and a top hopper in the BIOPAL boiler?
The side hopper sits next to the boiler body rather than on top of it. This means a lower overall unit height, which matters in rooms with low ceilings, and a larger pellet hopper capacity, which translates into longer operation between refills. Pellets are loaded from the side at a comfortable working height, with no need to reach up. The top hopper, on the other hand, has a smaller floor footprint. Both variants have the same BatoryPell® burner, heat exchanger, controller and emission figures.
How much does the MOCEKO BIOPAL boiler with a side hopper cost?
Gross prices: 12 kW — PLN 13,900, 16 kW — PLN 14,200, 20 kW — PLN 14,900, 25 kW — PLN 15,900. BIOPAL is not available in an 8 kW version — the series starts at 12 kW. Prices are identical to the top-hopper variant — the difference concerns only the hopper layout, not the price. All variants qualify for the higher subsidy level under the Clean Air programme.
How long does the BIOPAL boiler with a side hopper run without a pellet refill?
The side hopper has a larger capacity than the top hopper, which in practice means less frequent refills. Run time without a refill depends on the hopper capacity, the boiler's output and the heating intensity. With standard use during the heating season, a typical household tops up the pellets once every few days to every few weeks, depending on the outside temperature. The IRYD 620 controller gives advance notice when pellets need to be topped up.
Is the BIOPAL with a side hopper on the ZUM list?
Yes. The MOCEKO BIOPAL with a side hopper is on the NFOŚiGW ZUM list and qualifies for the Clean Air programme at the higher subsidy level — particulate emissions below 20 mg/m³. ZUM numbers: 12 kW — KB-302952, 16 kW — KB-102953, 20 kW — KB-902954, 25 kW — KB-602955.
Which BIOPAL boiler output should I choose?
BIOPAL starts at 12 kW — this variant is for well-insulated homes of roughly 100–130 m². Homes of 130–180 m² with average insulation — 16 kW. Buildings of 180–250 m² or older ones — 20 kW. Properties over 250 m² or poorly insulated — 25 kW. The lack of an 8 kW variant means that for small homes the OXYPELL series may be a better choice.
How often does the BIOPAL boiler need cleaning, and what does it involve in practice?
The BatoryPell® burner has a self-cleaning tube chamber — automatic cleaning during every operating cycle. The ash pan should be emptied every 1–4 weeks, depending on pellet quality. The heat exchanger needs cleaning once a season through the front inspection door, without removing the side panels. Removing the burner for inspection takes a few screws and about a dozen minutes — the burner is accessible directly from the side of the boiler without having to disturb the casing.
What controller does the BIOPAL boiler have and what can it do?
The IRYD 620 Pellet controller manages the central heating pump, the domestic hot water pump and a third pump, the mixing valve, weekly schedules and weather-compensated control. PID algorithms adjust output to the outside temperature. An optional internet module enables remote control from a smartphone app. The controller gives advance notice when cleaning or a pellet refill is needed.
What warranty does the MOCEKO BIOPAL boiler with a side hopper have?
60 months on boiler tightness and 24 months on the electronics and other components — the same as for the top-hopper model. A five-year warranty on tightness is one of the longest warranty periods on the Polish pellet boiler market. The warranty is conditional on inspections by an authorised MOCEK service centre.
How does BIOPAL differ from OXYPELL, and which one should I choose?
BIOPAL has an external BatoryPell® burner — easier service access and complete separation of the combustion zone from the hopper. OXYPELL has an internal burner — a smaller floor footprint, ash removal during operation without interrupting combustion, and acceptance of alternative fuels. Both are Class 5, EcoDesign, A+ and have the IRYD 620 controller. BIOPAL is better when easy burner servicing and hopper safety are the priority. OXYPELL is better for small boiler rooms and when you want minimal attention during the season.
What kind of boiler room suits the BIOPAL with a side hopper?
The side-hopper model is the best choice when the boiler room ceiling is low and the top-hopper model does not fit in terms of height, when you want a larger hopper capacity and less frequent refills, and when you have enough boiler room width for a boiler with a side hopper. If the boiler room is narrow but tall, consider the top-hopper model, which takes up less floor space.
Does the BIOPAL boiler with a side hopper accept alternative fuels?
The BatoryPell® burner is optimised for EN Plus A1 and A2 wood pellets. The tube chamber copes well with lower-quality pellets with a higher ash content. The manufacturer does not certify other fuels for the BIOPAL series — unlike the OXYPELL series, which accepts oats, sunflower husks and sunflower seeds. If you have any doubts about a fuel, contact MOCEK service before using it.
